My friends and I have an idea we thought of that we think would be worth your time to look into, if its not already being looked into or brought up. The other day we were discussing World War II pocket Carriers or more commonly called, "Escort Carriers". We understand that the Gallante Race has the ability to use drones and that most Gallante ships are tailored to such, but we also noticed that the Industrial Commnad Ship, it being a capital ship of sorts has the ability to be used in high sec areas, carries a nice 400k m3 ship maintance bay and a corporation hanger, not to mention a nice cargo capacity.
So, the idea was to have a capital, carrier based ship, that is something along those lines of the industrial command ship, with the ship maintance hanger etc. But the greatest thing about this "Escort Carrier" is that it wouldn't use alot of fighters likes the other larger carriers but per level would give the player one fighter, so as to bring the fighter count to only 5 at lvl 5, allowing the use of the Drone Interface mods CANNOT be allowed so as to not offset any combat and keep in the spirit of what "Escort Carriers" were used for; fighter cover. Other bonuses that would make the carrier like its larger ones, could be the inclusion of remote repair/transporters, perhapes the ability to enhance Fighter drones, Logistics and Combat Utility drones and maybe, depending on the race, a bonus to shield/armor repair. Due to the ship being able to be used in high sec, having the Corporations Hanger, Ship Maintance Bay and the use of fighters, I would say you have a really nice "Escort Carrier for high sec mission running in groups (as the carrier couldn't be used for solo-missioning), perhaps war dec's and whatever else players conjure up; the point is to have a small carrier to be used for working with and getting used to.
But I guess the good thing is that those of us that are working towards the larger carriers, well, we have a smaller one that will allow us to pratice with and get use to instead of training things we don't need or will only use for a short period of time, like the logistics ship line for example; I mean, I trained that class just so I can use the Triage Modual, so why not add a carrier in reference to that as well? And the skill line towards the larger carriers would be on par through the smaller one. So when you think about it, it would be nice to have something to work in and play in during the processes of training all skills needed to not only use the larger carriers, but it could be used to play in while players train other important skills, such as navigation, mechanical etc. The supporting or other pertant skills that would better able the player to use the larger carriers more effectively yet allow them to play in one at the same time.
Thanks for your attention.
